Lana Del Rey - Shades Of Cool

A song from a few weeks ago, from hipsters' favourite Lana Del Rey. There is a James Bond theme vibe going on here which is interesting but more importantly the guitar solo at 3:48 is pretty damn cool.

The new album Ultraviolence is out now.

La Roux - Tropical Chancer - from the new upcoming album 'Trouble in Paradise'

The first new track that I have come across from La Roux's upcoming and long in the making album titled Trouble in Paradise. It has been five years since La Roux's self titled debut album hit the charts in 2009. Much acclaim followed including a Mercury Prize nomination and a Grammy win in 2011. Singles 'In for the Kill' and 'Bulletproof' were big chart successes and album sales went platinum in 2010. With not much activity since the debut album lets hope that this new release meets the high standards La Roux have already set for themselves. This track gives me high expectations that they will do so. Trouble in Paradise is set for release on the 7th of July.

Darlia - Queen of Hearts - Radio 1's Big Weekend Glasgow Live Video

This week's song of the week comes from a new up and coming band I chanced upon last weekend whilst browsing the coverage of Radio 1's Big Weekend in Glasgow. Darlia are a grunge/rock/alternative outfit from Blackpool who have been backed by BBC Introducing and Radio 1 in recent months, having been Zane Lowe's Hottest Record and getting increasing airtime. 

Their second EP Candyman was released a couple of months ago and a full album should be in the works. Their first single Queen of Hearts is this weeks song of the week, being their standout song so far. I also particularly like the track Blood Money but it is yet to have a music video made. You can check out the Candyman EP on spotify below.

Kasabian - Bumblebee - 43:13 - Live on Later... with Jools Holland - BBC Two

It looks set to be a big summer for Kasabian as they headline the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on the last day of the festival (Sun 29th June). I have been liking this song a lot after seeing it on the Later.. with Jools Holland show on BBC2. 

This an early look at one of the tracks from the upcoming new album 43:13 set for release on the 9th of June. The album is named after its track timing as shown in the album art, which seems like the band gave up trying to think of interesting album titles after the likes of West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and Velociraptor!. I actually prefer this track to the album's first single eez-eh so it will be interesting to hear the rest of the new album when it comes out.

The Orwells - Let It Burn [Official Video]

I became a fan of The Orwells after hearing the track Other Voices played by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1. (The Orwells – Other Voices)

The band seems to be going from strength to strength with new material trickling out since 2012's debut album Remember When. Most of these songs released last year and earlier this year will feature on the new album including: The Righteous One, Dirty Sheets, Who Needs You as well as my feature track above Let It Burn. More updates likely to follow on their youtube page here.

Their second album Disgraceland set for release on 3rd June 2014.
